Outdoor PlantsMy Outdoor Plants

We all love to see all kind of beautiful flower bearing plants in our lawns. I am in love with the new house that we recently moved into. I have always dreamt of living in such a house. I had decorated the entire house with, the inside and outside, with a lot of love and care. But one area that bothered me was the patio.

So, we made our patio area more spacious. The new space is amazing, but one area has gone waste. The area is not enough for a chair to be placed, so I thought outdoor plants would be a good idea to utilize the space. There are other outdoor plants in the yard, but due to the railing I didn’t want flowering plants in here. So I visited the local nursery to find a better solution.

The nursery had a plethora of outdoor plants of all variety. I had bought several of my bedding plants and vegetable plants from this particular nursery. The owner inquired if she could assist me. I told her about my requirement of a plant to be placed in a corner of the deck. She suggested some beautiful and cute hibiscus trees. These plants are bred with the aim to be used as outdoor plants, but in winters they can be brought into the house too. I was impressed, but the area I wanted to place it in was sunny and full of light whereas these plants needed partial shade. We thought of some other plants which were suitable for withstanding the sun, but none seemed to fit into that area. At last, when I was about to leave, I saw a large patio tomato plant which had a sturdy stake for support. It was around 5 feet tall. Nursery owner agreed to sell it but told her about her concern that the tomatoes might come off in the travel. Since I knew that I needed a tall plant I had brought the pick up truck of ours to the nursery. We put a cardboard shield around the plant to protect it during the three miles journey to my house.

The tomato home arrived safe with only two small tomatoes getting lost in the way. Indeed this is the largest tomato plant I have ever come across. It is flourishing in the sunny spot. It is also producing and providing us ripened tomatoes, at least one each in the evening for our dinner. It was not at all I had thought of to fill up that space, but it has been worth it. I have achieved two goals-filling up the space and getting fresh tomatoes.

Next year I am considering looking for outdoor plants in the beginning of the season. A number of hooks are available in the market, which are a great way to fill up an empty spot.

I also advise everyone who wants to decorate their outdoors to try out outdoor plants. This can add a new kind of glamour to your outdoors just like my tomato plant did.
