Garden Gifts For The Avid Planter

My husband and I enjoy working in the garden together. We have several flower gardens as well as a large vegetable garden. Every spring, we plant more vegetables than we can eat. Since none of my sisters have vegetable gardens, we decided to create gift baskets for Christmas. My husband’s family all have their own vegetable gardens. Still, we liked the basket idea, and decided to fill theirs with gardening tools.

We created jars of dilled pickles, stewed tomatoes, and pickled green beans for some of the gift baskets. Our neighbor allowed us to pick as many raspberries as we liked, so we made raspberry jam and syrup. Next, we chose to dehydrate apples that grew on our tree. We made apple pie in a jar with sugar and cinnamon. Simply pour the pie mix into a shell and you have a wonderful pie. At the garden supply shop we purchased wooden crates. I lined them with wood, then placed all the canned goods in. I wrote on the crates in calligraphy.

For my husband’s family we went to the Mall of America. They have wonderful gardening tools. We bought several gardening carts on wheels. We filled the carts with gloves, hats, and small gardening tools. In addition, I included pans of homemade caramels. My husband and I spend many great evenings together preparing these lovely gifts.
